Feel the rhythm. Hear the story. Breathe the past.
“They say a story is the only thing we truly leave behind... a whisper of what was. And for me, every note, every step… it’s a memory of her.”
Transporting audiences to the industrial heart of early 1900’s working class Belfast, Celtic Heart is an intimate and powerful storytelling experience brought vividly to life through the spoken word, live traditional music, captivating vocals, and breathtaking dance choreography.
From a quiet kitchen table, a father reflects on his past whilst the stage comes alive through a rich multi-sensory tapestry of song and dance. The past and present intertwine, revealing the deep, unbreakable love he holds for his daughter and the choices that shaped their lives. A story of two traditions colliding and forbidden love is tested. Will his daughter find a way to follow her heart without defying family tradition, or will her love be silenced before it has a chance to sing? Only time will tell….
Colin Urwin, world renowned storyteller, brings his rich, authentic voice to deliver this unique and immersive production. The time-honoured art of oral storytelling intertwines with ancient Irish folklore and glimpses of old Belfast humour while the floorboards shake to the rhythm of live traditional musicians and champion Irish dancers. Every emotion is underscored by the haunting swell of an old-fashioned ballad or the defiant energy of a rollicking jig. Audiences will be captivated and taken on an emotional and turbulent journey of love, loss and resilience.
This is a Belfast story, told authentically, honestly, and from the heart, resonating with audiences long after the final note has faded.
