Performing Towards Harmony, Ulster Orchestra return to the iconic Ulster Hall, Belfast on 22 March 2024.
Conflict and triumph in musical form appear in this programme, through Shostakovich’s reflection of the futility of war in his Chamber Symphony in F Major and Mendelssohn’s celebration of the tercentenary of the Protestant Reformation. Weinberg’s First Flute Concerto, by turns cheerful and melancholy, sits neatly between both.
