This event will feature a moderated Q&A between Sir Trevor McDonald OBE Eamonn Holmes OBE, recalling his experiences of reporting and interviewing from all over the world with a special focus on his first major assignment which was the troubles in 1970's Belfast.
Sir Trevor McDonald, born and educated in Trinidad, began his media career as a radio reporter before moving to London in 1969 to work for the BBC and later ITN. He covered major global events, including the Northern Ireland conflict, Britain’s EU negotiations, the Falklands War and summits between Reagan and Gorbachev.

As ITN's Diplomatic Editor and later sole presenter of News at Ten, he conducted historic interviews with Nelson Mandela, Saddam Hussein, Colonel Gaddafi, Yasser Arafat, and Bill Clinton. He won numerous awards, including a BAFTA and the Royal Television Society Gold Medal.
Beyond news, he presented documentaries on crime, history, and travel. He has supported many charities, chaired educational initiatives, and was knighted in 1999. His autobiography, An Improbable Life, was published in 2019.
