BBC Radio 3 Invitation Concert

BBC Radio 3 is proud to present an Invitation Concert at the iconic Ulster Hall, Belfast, focussing on 20^th century English music.

The programme will encompass the shimmering countryside visions in Summer by Frank Bridge, the vigorous Courtly Dances from Britten’s Opera Gloriana – dedicated to Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of her Coronation – and Elgar’s Wand of Youth Suite No.2, based on the incidental music to a play written by the teenage Elgar and his siblings. The most recent of the works is by Ruth Gipps – her Cringlemire Garden, evoking the thoughts of someone sitting in the romantic landscape of a garden in the Lake District.
