About Belfast Waterfront

Who built Belfast Waterfront?

Belfast Waterfront was designed by local architects Robinson McIlwaine and built by contractors Gilbert Ash.

The £32million contract was financed by Belfast City Council, with support from the government’s urban development grant and the European Regional Development Fund.

When did the Belfast Waterfront open?

Building work was completed in early 1997 and the building opened to the public on 17 January 1997 with a special concert featuring the Ulster Orchestra, pianist Barry Douglas and flautist James Galway.

Attending a concert

Do I need a ticket for babies and young children?

Yes. Everyone needs a ticket to attend a concert, even babes in arms.

However, children under the age of three will not be admitted to the auditoria unless for a concert aimed specifically at children.

What is the dress code?

We don’t have any fixed rules about dress.

We do host formal events from time to time but these are usually for invited guests and any required dress code will be made clear with your invitation.

Do I need to book the restaurant?

Yes, arc brasserie can become very busy during performances so you should book early to avoid disappointment.

Do your bars accept credit cards and do they provide cashback?

All our bars, like our box office and restaurant, accept all major credit cards, except American Express.

However, they do not provide a cashback facility.

How do I make a booking?

You can make an online enquiry or contact the conference and business sales team directly on 028 9033 4400.

I have booked an event at Belfast Waterfront. Can I provide my own catering?

Mount Charles Catering Ltd are the appointed caterer at Belfast Waterfront.

For more information on our menus and how to book, call our catering provider, Mount Charles, on 028 9033 4400 (extension 1350 or 1633).

Do you have an in-house audiovisual team?

Yes, we have an audiovisual co-ordinator who can assist you with any queries you have.

My meeting is quite small. What facilities do you provide?

We offer 14 meeting rooms which range in size and can accommodate between eight and 90 people.

Is technical support provided?

Yes, our expert in-house technicians are available to assist you with any queries you may have.

There are several hotels, suitable for a variety of budgets, located within walking distance of Belfast Waterfront.

Miscellaneous

Can I hold my wedding reception in Belfast Waterfront?

We have two glass-fronted reception areas which offer superb views of Belfast by day or night.

Each area is suitable for up to 250 guests.

I want to get married at Belfast Waterfront. Is this possible?

Yes, we are currently licensed to hold civil marriage and partnership ceremonies in three areas of the venue.

Are there any restaurants nearby?

Duo, Harbour View, Oxford Exchange, Tedfords and Sonoma at the Belfast Hilton Hotel are all located around two minutes’ walk from Belfast Waterfront.

Does Belfast Waterfront have a cash machine?

A cash machine is located in the main concourse area, just inside the front entrance doors.

Cash machines are also located in Central Station in East Bridge Street, around five minutes’ walk from the venue.

It has two machines, one of which dispenses Euro notes.
