The Dubliners` 50th Anniversary Tour calls at the Waterfront
11 May 2012
Press release issued on behalf of Pat Egan Sound Ltd
The Dubliners` 50th Anniversary Tour reaches Belfast Waterfront on Thursday 7 June.
2012 marks the 50th Anniversary of the founding of The Dubliners in O’Donoghue’s Pub in Dublin’s Merrion Row. The Dubliners` 50th Anniversary show is a live concert interspersed with video footage and photographs of the band throughout their 50 year history. More than a show, the concert is a live celebration of one of the greatest bands ever to come out of Ireland.
Over the years The Dubliners have entertained, thrilled, amazed, recorded some great songs (including Whiskey In The Jar, Dirty Old Town and The Irish Rover) and iconic albums and played with just about everyone from U2 and Rory Gallagher to Christy Moore and The Pogues.
The Dubliners are determined to continue with their tour following the sad and sudden passing of founding member and banjo player, Barney McKenna. Gerry O’Connor, one of Ireland’s most respected tenor banjo players and one of Barney’s favourites, joins the group for their Waterfront concert.
Tickets for The Dubliners are available online, from the Waterfront and Ulster Hall Box Offices and by calling 028 9033 4455.
