Stars bring STOMP magic to Belfast school
Stars of STOMP - the West End spectacular hitting Belfast Waterfront from 19 to 24 January - have enthralled youngsters at a Belfast primary school with an exclusive insight into the rhythms and sounds produced during the show.
STOMP is a unique, universal language of rhythm, theatre, comedy and dance where the junk and clutter of everyday life becomes the source of infectious rhythm and wonder. The performers use boots, bins, brooms and everything including the kitchen sink to hammer out explosive feel-good rhythms!
STOMP`s Oliver Tunmer and Keith Mannaseh Crosse visited South Belfast`s Rosetta Primary School where they introduced children to the building blocks of rhythm during special workshops and taught them how to develop ingenious rhythmic routines by using drain pipes, basket balls, their hands, feet, mouths, chests and even their stomachs!
During the STOMP workshops the children discovered a whole new world of percussive sounds and learnt about tempo, timing, co-ordination, dexterity, combining rhythm and movement and how to work in large groups to produce amazing music.
To date, STOMP has set feet stamping, fingers drumming, adrenalin rushing and feel-good flooding through audiences totalling 14 million across 43 countries.
