Belfast Waterfront Community Policy

Making Belfast Waterfront’s facilities available to everyone is a key part of our job.

We do this by focusing on three areas:

  • equality of opportunity
  • increasing access and ownership
  • systems.

Equality of opportunity

We want to make sure our services and resources are available to everyone.

Our policy aims to:

  • make sure the needs of community groups and artists are represented
  • ensure systems are in place to listen to and act upon community opinions and ideas
  • remove barriers that prevent community groups from using Belfast Waterfront and increase access by putting relevant policies into practice
  • make sure our staff are equipped to provide high standard services to youth and community groups.

Increasing access and ownership

We want to increase our appeal by encouraging communities to be part of Belfast Waterfront.

Our policy aims to:

  • set up a partnership programme which creates links with community groups
  • use this programme to boost access to our events and performances and improve all aspects of our community policy
  • develop installation work in our front-of-house areas
  • make sure our front-of-house areas are used for a range of activities
  • ensure that all front-of-house work is well presented and accessible to everyone.

Systems

This covers improvements to our databases and communication systems and explains how easy it is for people to access information about our venue.

Our policy aims to:

  • set up mailing lists and communication systems to make sure information about our services is available to everyone
  • ensure that information packs on all our public art are available via email or through our box office
  • make sure that relevant groups are aware of community and arts initiatives taking place in Belfast Waterfront.
